CHARACTER SOLID OAK FURNITURE
A distinct collection of furniture hewn from solid European Oak in at Indigo’s own dedicated Oak workshop.
SOLID OAK FURNITURE
Solid Oak furniture begins life at our very own Indigo sawmill on the edge of the Baltic Coast, Oak of European provenance is branded by the teeth of a wartime Ripsaw which dates back to the 1930’s; part of a painstaking restoration project to reinstate a piece of British woodworking history.
Oak is fundamental in cabinet making, valued for its density and significant weight. A timber defined by a close, tight-knit, linear grain which results in resilient and hardwearing furniture with exceptional patina. During the seasoning process the timbers are air dried for 6-24 months and then kiln dried for up to 8 months; removing the moisture over a period of time produces a uniform level throughout the timber preventing shrinkage and movement.
Solid Oak furniture lovingly designed and manufactured by Indigo, each piece of timber is hewn using restored British band and circular saws.
This working process leaves distinct marks which are never fully sanded out, thus maintaining the integral story of manufacturing.
The resulting character imparted onto each piece sets Indigo Furniture apart in the marketplace.

BROUGHT TO LIFE
The cool, neutral tones of solid Oak furniture are brought to life with a natural Beeswax hand-finish, which nourishes and protects; bringing the inherent character to the fore.
An artisanal process which entails several hours of hand buffing, and polishing with a lint free cloth.
Clear wax is provided as part of your Indigo Care Pack to nourish the timber. Overtime your Oak furniture will mellow in tone and take on a distinct patina.

We pride ourselves on celebrating the nuances of the timber we use to create the Indigo collection of solid Oak furniture and provide samples as a guide to the tones you can expect. Wood is a natural product and the final finish on each piece will vary; this is dependent on factors such as the grain of the wood and how readily the wax applied during the finishing process is absorbed.
A complimentary care pack will help you to look after and cherish each piece of Indigo Furniture you invest in.ORDER A SAMPLE
