BRITISH MADE PRODUCTS…
Green&Blue began in 2005 by husband and wife team Kate and Gavin Christman in the seaside town of Perranporth in Cornwall. Together their aim was to design and innovate a collection of British made products to help wildlife whilst also being both beautiful and stylish.
Kate and Gavin’s products are crafted in their own workshop unit with an emphasis on creating products which are simplistic in design and will help to protect the environment for future generations.
“So often caring for wildlife means compromising on design but at Green&Blue we’re passionate about combining the two. Our designs are clever, look beautiful and really work for nature.”

BEHIND THE DESIGN…
The Green&Blue collection of bee bricks, planters and blocks have been inspired by the method in which solitary bees nest. A number of holes cast in the concrete provide a variety of cavities that make an easy and natural home for bees such as mason bees and leaf cutter bees.
Solitary bees differ from honey bees and bumble bees. They do not produce honey or wax but are essential in the pollination of crops, flowers and trees. Around a third of all the food we eat is pollinated by solitary bees and ensuring these types of bees are protected is what Green&Blue’s aim to achieve with their collection of innovative products.
Solitary bees are safe to encourage into gardens as they do not have the protective nature that honey bees have. Not many male bees have a sting and female bees only sting when aggravated making them safe to have around children and pets.
Sadly the solitary bee population is in decline due to them not having suitable places to nest and because of the increasing use of chemicals in farming. The Bee Bricks provide homes that the bees need and can be used in newly built walls or in gardens to help the solitary bee find a safe place to live.
Green&Blue’s Bee Bricks are ideal for urban landscapes and help to add a contemporary design element to your outdoor space. Choose from a collection of Bee Posts, Bee Bricks, Bee Blocks and Planters.
AN INNOVATIVE NESTING SITE…
“The Bee Brick is a unique and innovative nesting site for solitary bees and and has won several awards, including the Soil Association Innovation Award.

Designed and made by us in our Cornish workshop the bee brick can be used as a standalone bee hotel in the garden or can also be used within construction in place of a standard brick.
They make a great gift for men folk too, beautiful concrete that does something! Solitary bees face massive decline and introducing bee brick into your garden could begin to make a real difference.”

MODERN DESIGNS AND COLOURS…
Green&Blue also design a range of colourful and modern bird feeders that are easy to clean and fill with your garden birds favourite seeds. The feeders are designed to hang from tree branches and edges of rooftop edges to attract a variety of well known British birds.

Here at Indigo we particularly like the Birdball Seed Feeder as it will attract sparrows, finches and blue tits all year round. It’s weather proof design also makes it perfect for the unpredictable British weather.
Green&Blue have also designed the Birdball Birdhouses to compliment the Bird Seeders. These eye catching bird houses aim to attract smaller birds such as March Tits and Long Tailed Tits as the houses are designed with a smaller hole to allow easy access but also keep out larger predators.
