Explore our creative tips to create an inviting, nature inspired al fresco table setting.
Explore the British Countryside…
As part of this month’s Outdoor theme, we ventured out into the idyllic Derbyshire Countryside, a stone’s throw away from our Matlock Showroom. Lined with luscious greenery, meadows of wildflowers and delicate florals, Derbyshire countryside is plentiful with an array of texture and colour, bringing the hills alive.
With the warmer months, we’re tempted to make the most of our outdoor space, savour the sunshine and entertain guests. With the advantageous Derbyshire scenery on our doorstep, we bring the outdoors in to decorate our Crossley Oak Table for Al Fresco Dining. Explore our creative tips to create an inviting, nature inspired al fresco table setting.
Picking Wildflowers of the British Countryside…
The wild flora of the British landscape adapts with changing climates, flourishing in the warmer months. Wild flowers and foliage enrich the British Countryside, creating a serene surrounding for long walks, family outings and Summer picnics.
Whilst British Countryside is thriving, simple enjoyment of hand picking flowers is acceptable when certain guidelines are adhered to and be careful not to trespass in protected territory, outlined by the Wild Flower Society.
Here are our tips for exploring the British Countryside’s florals and foliage:
• Bring along a strong wicker trug, sharp pruning scissors and rustic twine to tie up your floral bunches.
• Only take florals and foliage from large patches of the plant, do not uproot and leave a fair amount for others to enjoy.
• Be careful of thorns, stinging nettles and other harmful plants.
• Delicate Cow Parsley, also known as ‘Queen Anne’s Lace’ is a common wildflower of the British Countryside, growing rapidly in the Summer. Be attentive when picking to ensure harmful plants of a similar aesthetic are not picked mistakenly.
• Widespread throughout Britain, find fresh ferns in both sun-filled and shady spots, moist woodlands and streamside.
A Summer Beverage…
Foraging in the British Countryside can provide refreshing drinks to serve at your Summer gathering. Create a tempting beverage with a few commonly picked fresh ingredients:
• Elderflowers, commonly found in hedgerows, can be dried and used for a classic infused Summer drink.
• Fresh green blackberry leaves can be used for a fruity tea.
• Crushed Juniper berries create a fragrant gin in a mixture of sugars and herbs.
Create a relaxed outdoor dining space…
Create a relaxed, stylish outdoor space to enjoy with family and friends. Bring the British Countryside to your outdoor dining space and create a nature inspired table setting, teaming natural texture and complimentary dining accessories for a unique dining experience.
