TUNBRIDGE WELLS SHOWROOM OPENING
On October 1st and 2nd, Indigo opened their latest signature showroom in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
A GLITTERING OPENING…
On October 1st and 2nd, Indigo customers were treated to the glittering opening of our brand new showroom in Tunbridge Wells. Crowds began to gather early on Saturday morning and at 11am Tunbridge Wells’ Mayor Dave Neve was in place to cut the ribbon. Guests also heard a short speech which covered the rich history of Indigo and its Directors Miles Gregory and David Castle.
After an intensive refurbishment the new showroom was unveiled as part of our exciting opening event. Guests got the chance to spend their very own Indigo £50 Note – hand illustrated with landmarks of the local area – and get a first-hand look at the Autumn Sale.
There was live jazz music from local trio Ultraswing, glasses flowing with bubbly and a delicious taste of our home county, Derbyshire; Bakewell Puddings, Huntsman’s Pie and Stilton cheese. Unique items sourced by Indigo’s creative team included a reconditioned Georgian telephone box (now re-purposed with a touch screen), reclaimed flooring and sparkling antique chandeliers encased in steam bent ash orbs.
The showroom holds an edited collection of key pieces; curated by Creative Director, Abigail List. Look out for ultra tactile, vintage inspired leather sofas and armchairs; defined by classic style lines, sumptuous fillings and hardwood frames. Alongside handcrafted dining tables, chairs and storage pieces such as cupboards and wardrobes in solid oak and pine. All lovingly designed by Indigo’s creative team and handmade in Indigo’s own workshops.
Tonbridge local Andrew Norris will be supervising the new showroom…
“The passion and enthusiasm within the company excited me and I was overjoyed when offered the position. The corner aspect of the new showroom which crosses Calverley and Camden Road is getting a lot of attention, particularly with the eye-catching chandeliers, 8 foot oak table and imposing four poster bed in the window, we’re looking forward to a busy Autumn Sale.”
Q: Are you local to Tunbridge Wells? What’s so special about the area?
A: “I live in Tonbridge which neighbours Tunbridge Wells. Tunbridge Wells and its surrounding towns and villages tend to be mostly old town and country charm with many independent businesses which make a change from the generic standard high street offerings, though they are obviously available in the main high street and shopping centre. It is the nicest area I have worked in and lived around and there is a broad choice of restaurants. The links to London go to most of the main stations and generally takes 40-50 minutes.”
Q: What’s your favourite item in the showroom and why?
A: “In the Tunbridge Wells showroom, I think it is the corner sofa in the basement showroom, it looks very inviting, and has lots of interest already! The Merchants Bed in the window is also a favourite though and is a real statement piece and shows off the brand and the qualities Indigo provide perfectly.”
Indigo’s new showroom is open 7 days a week Mon to Sat 9:00am to 5:30pm and Sun 11:00am to 5:00pm.
