The mighty oak tree, regarded as the "Queen of the forest" - the very epitome of quality.
We use oak blocks from various sources, the oak used for the ‘Two-er, Two & a halfer and Three-er coffee tables is all reclaimed. This was originally destined for use as railway sleeper approximately 30 years ago; however we discovered the wood in a timber yard in 2005, luckily it hadn’t been forwarded to be creosoted, so we bought the lot! Some of the beams show the original pilot holes which had been pre-drilled ready for putting down on the tracks. These blocks are all approximately 9” x 4”. We have also been lucky enough to find timber from old footbridges, factories and mills.
The oak used for our Double & Triple coffee tables, lamps and blocks is new French oak which is semi-seasoned. The wood has been drying for between 1 and 4 years, overtime the wood will continue to dry with character enhancing splits appearing creating an unique table with individual character every time.
