Quebec Pine

For the first few days the final hand finish will need to adapt to it’s new surrounding atmosphere and the humidity of your home before it fully hardens.

We recommend you always use a coaster and a placemat to protect the surface of dining and coffee tables from heat as it will damage the finish. We advise you do not use any chemical based cleaning products and only use a damp cloth to clean the surface. Please ensure the wood is left to dry naturally once cleaned.

Using your Care pack: Light Wax

Light wax is provided to nourish the timber and it’s recommended that you use once a month for the first three months to help build up strength and durability. Use a lint free cloth and lightly apply the wax until evenly spread.

Allow to dry for about 30 minutes before gently buffing to a light sheen using the soft brush provided. To maintain the warm, rich colour we recommend you use the Light wax every 3 months, dependant on use.

Using your Care pack: Stripped Pine Wax

Mellow any scratches and knocks with the stripped pine wax provided. Apply the stripped pine sparingly over the whole plank or panel, not just to the affected area to ensure an even colour. Allow to dry for around 30 minutes then buff off lightly with the soft brush provided.

Full application:

It is advisable to wax the whole piece of furniture once a year or as needed to maintain the unique patina, again apply sparingly to ensure an even colour. Allow to dry for around 30 minutes then buff off lightly with the soft brush provided.

Please note that extensive rubbing will create patchiness.

The surface of the following Plank and Reclaimed products are treated with hard wax oil for durability so do not need wax applying to them for maintenance.

  • All Dining Tables
  • All Coffee/Side Tables

European Oak

Each panel, plinth and post is machined from one, whole piece of Oak; unlike other furniture on the market, which may be made with several smaller pieces of timber glued together.

The significant weight of Indigo Oak furniture sets it apart in the marketplace.

CHARACTER OF OAK

Natural Characteristics

Wood has certain natural characteristics such as shrinkage, swelling, hairline cracks and minor movement due to changes in temperature and humidity. These may appear and disappear with the changing weather conditions.

This will not affect the durability or lifespan of your furniture and normal movement within wood is completely normal. These natural movements are not a structural defect

Using your Care pack: Light Wax

Light wax is provided to nourish the timber and help the natural characteristics of a hard wood. It is recommended that you use the Light Wax once a month for the first three months to help build up strength and durability on the surface. Use a lint free cloth and lightly apply the wax until evenly spread.

Allow to dry for around 30 minutes before gently buffing to a light sheen using the soft brush provided.

An application is also advised once every six months, depending on use. Particularly in areas of constant contact such as dining and coffee table tops. Over time your oak furniture will mellow in tone and take on a distinct patina.

CHARACTER OF OAK

Using your Care pack: Hard Wax Oil

Aged Oak Hard Wax oil is for touch ups and scratches only, it is not for the maintenance and upkeep of the wood. Hard Wax Oil is a more hardwearing, lasting finish so regular maintenance is not required.

Before use, shake the tin of provided Hard Wax Oil to get the best results. Use one of the lint free cloths provided and apply the wax oil lightly until evenly spread over the desired area, removing any excess at the end. Use the cloth only once.

Allow to dry for 6-8 hours in a warm and well ventilated room, when dry a light buff will further enhance the sheen.

Beeswax For Drawer Runners

A bar of beeswax is provided to aid in the maintenance of your product to ensure the drawers are running smoothly. If the drawers on any of your products become difficult to open due to the natural swelling and movement of the wood, simply run the included beeswax bar along the runners until there is a fine layer. This will help to ease the movement of the drawers.

Heritage Leather

Each step of the design and make process is carried out in meticulous detail. Indigo craftsmen utilise every piece of the leather and craft the upholstery to ensure areas of high contact such as the back and base cushions are finished in the premium part of the hide.

Only full Aniline leather is used, sporting an accented natural grain and soft hand-feel. Indigo’s signature heritage finish leathers; Aged Saddle and Conker Saddle leathers undergo a 21 day process finish and are never skimmed or pressed. Resulting a unique patina and surface interest.

CHARACTER OF LEATHER

Natural Characteristics

Our leathers maintain the inherent natural characteristics of each hide. Marks of it’s past are maintained, with intense surface interest; wrinkles, blemishes and scars are left in the leather and enhanced during the finishing process. All leather items are treated with a Leather Guard at time of manufacturing. This solution is for absorbent leather protection against stains and spillages as well as UV damage and fading. The life of your leather will be prolonged with regular application of the Leather Restore in addition to the protector.

Types of Leather

Full Aniline – Aged Saddle, Faded Saddle and Raw Aged Saddle

These leathers have not been skimmed and no finish applied therefore showcasing all of their natural characteristics. These leathers are waxed.

Semi Aniline – Conker Saddle and Buffed Saddle

Increased durability is provided by the application of a light surface coating which contains a small amount of pigment. These leathers are oiled.

Leather Care

Indigo Leather Restore is provided to prolong the life of your leather to keep it soft and supple. Our unique care solution is a mix of a water based leather cleaner to clean and hydrate the hide. The dye used in the tanning process is to reduce fading and to enrich the colour upon application. There is also an aniline leather restorer which is a cream based solution that adds moisture and oils to soften and restore the supple feel.

Before use, shake the bottle well, pour the solution onto a clean cloth, wipe over each leather panel one at a time, leave to dry naturally and repeat if necessary. It is recommended that you use the Leather Restore regularly dependant on use.
