Guest Instagrammer | Tamsin Tuthill

Tamsin has always lived by the sea and works in a marine environment. She is regularly out taking photos which have a nautical theme using Instagram. Tamsin travels frequently and enjoys walking in the countryside therefore her photos reflect a variety of places and scenery.

We chose Tamsin’s Instagram for her ability to capture the colour and beauty of the British coastline. Here are a small selection of Tamsin’s Instagram photographs.

1 // Cawsand in Cornwall

I was walking along the beach last summer at Cawsand in Cornwall when I spotted these brightly coloured paddle boards. The colours really stood out against the wall and the pale buildings behind and I couldn’t resist taking a shot.

2 // Plymouth Sound, Devon

This photo was taken on a wet, cold day just after we arrived into Plymouth Sound, Devon. The girl on the foc’sle had just finished raising the blue ensign.

3 // Bognor Regis, West Sussex

It was a summer evening and I was walking along the beach at Bognor Regis, West Sussex. I loved the brightly coloured beach huts casting shadows onto the pebbles with the fishing boats in the distance.

4 // National Waterways Museum, Wirral

I was visiting the National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port in the Wirral when I looked down from a bridge onto the canal and found it was covered in bright green algae. I loved the bright colours and the contrasting shapes of the boats and their shadows.

5 // River Forth, Scotland

This is a photo taken from the stern of a ship whilst moored up alongside a jetty on the river Forth in Scotland. In the foreground are the ship’s black mooring lines, while the sun sets behind the petrochemical works of Grangemouth in the distance.

6 // National Waterways Museum, Wirral

This photo was taken at the National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port. The bike was leaning against one of the old Porters Row Cottages and my eye was drawn to the two contrasting circles together – an old bicycle wheel and a modern lifebuoy.

7 // Cawsand, Cornwall

This photo was taken at Cawsand in Cornwall. It was a lovely summers day and I liked the mood created by the yachts at anchor and the calm sea with the rocks in the foreground.

8 // Bognor Regis

My niece was playing around, throwing stones in the water at Bognor Regis, West Sussex. It was such an eerie, overcast day that the image seemed to capture a sense of solitude and calm.

9 // Southsea Marina, Hampshire

On a recent morning walk I ended up at Southsea Marina on Langstone Harbour, Hampshire. It was a cold, miserable rainy day and the discarded, abandoned boat captured the mood completely.
