Create a quiet spot with our small solid wood breakfast table
A moment of reflection and 5 tips to make the day count.
Enjoy Some Quiet Time
A stolen moment before the rest of the house awakens can set the pace for a wonderful day, one where you are in control and finish-up with a sense of achievement. Indigo’s small solid wood breakfast table is available as a square or rectangular table and makes a perfect spot to enjoy some quiet time before the rest of the world wakes up.
Tip #1 – Make A List
Take some time with your favourite cup, your favourite coffee blend (the one that you keep just for you!) and a notepad to plan out your day.
Split any tasks into what you need to get done and what you’d like to get done – ticking off an agenda during the day will both energise and empower you to tackle the rest of the items. Start with the worst job first and the rest will seem easier to achieve.
Tip #2 – Take In The Morning Light
Find a bright spot to create your morning space, early morning light will renew and energise you.
A small solid wood breakfast table can sit happily in a forgotten corner – making the maximum use of space in your home. An on-trend pendant light can provide much needed reading light and also defines the space.
Tip #3 – Set The Tone
As this is a space away from your main dining area it can be more informal- choose a different set of crockery for your breakfast space, perhaps more rustic
or colourful – we love traditional enamelware, can set the tone for a more relaxed morning vibe.
Tip #4 Sack The Snooze
Quell the urge to press snooze at the weekend and set the alarm to get you up a little earlier than the rest of the household, you’ll savour the quiet time to compose your thoughts and prepare yourself for the day ahead.
Plan out a lazy weekend lunch with your favourite cook books and write out a list for a trip to the local farmers market.
Tip #5 Start The Day Right
Shop ahead for a breakfast that will kickstart your day – avoid sugary cereal in favour of slow energy release foods like overnight-oats
Take a mixture of jumbo and regular oats – allow a couple of small handfulls per person and you can also lightly toast them in a frying pan for a nutty flavour.
Bump up your five-a-day by adding a grated apple or pear to the oats, pomegranate seeds are also delicious.
Pour on either natural yogurt or fruit juice to cover the fruit and oats. Pop into a Kilner Jar in the fridge overnight.
Top the oats with dried fruit and nuts and dollop of natural yogurt and honey.
